The coating on mine bubbled up and flaked off also...

I love this thing, used it every day for coffee only and was cleaning it earlier and just noticed the chipping finish. There needs to be a better way to avoid that from happening, as it happened to the exterior on several of the Atlantis cups we purchased as well. I can provide photos of the damaged finishes if needed.
